Le format du lieu se veut à taille humaine permettant le contact avec les visiteurs et l’échange permanent avec eux. Central dans la ville, Index est également important comme pour amener ce réseau de contacts dans le milieu de l’art contemporain.
Avec plusieurs rôles en tant qu’institution, Index est une plateforme pour les artistes et le public. Avec une programmation riche d’expositions, de rencontres, de conférences, de recherches, d’activités, Index est un lieu dynamique et au coeur du questionnement autour de la création contemporaine.
Depuis août 2018 Marti Manen en est le directeur.

Marti Manen (Barcelona, 1976) is a curator and art writer based in Stockholm. With a thorough knowledge of Nordic and international art contexts, Manen has worked closely with artists to expand the formats of exhibition production. He has a deep interest in collaboration with artists to create communities that renegotiate space and histories. Manen has been programming exhibition series for institutions as well as projects for independent spaces and other artistic structures, investigating possible ways to redefine artistic grammar and public interaction.
Manen has worked extensively with independent and institutional curatorial practice including publications and exhibitions. He has been curator of exhibitions at Museo de Historia Natural (Mexico City), Aara (Bangkok), Sala Rekalde (Bilbao), Konsthall C (Stockholm), Ca2M (Madrid), Miró Foundation (Barcelona) and he was the curator of the Spanish Pavilion at Venice Biennale 2015. During the 1990s he curated a five-year program of exhibitions in his student accomodation. He was one of the founders of the Barcelona’s independent structure for criticality, A*Desk. Manen has recently been working as curator at the Public Art Agency Sweden and Konstfack, and is also the Curator of Momentum10 Biennial in Moss, Norway. Manen has written books including Salir de la exposición (To leave the exhibition) published by Consonni, Contarlo todo sin saber cómo (Telling everything not knowing how) published by Ca2M and When Lines Are Time published by Miró Foundation. Manen has worked on projects and exhibitions with artists such as Rosa Barba, Christodoulos Panayiotou, Dora García, Kajsa Dahlberg, Sofia Hultén and Cabello/Carceller.
